5v5 Testing the New State Machine

Last night, we played our first 5v5 game! We were testing the prototype software that incorporates the new state machine. We found some problems, for sure, but the new design shows promise!

Because of a slow setup (the very thing we’re working on fixing!), we were only able to play two seven-minute halves of King-of-the-Hill. Here are the results:

Period Red Team Blue Team
First Half 0:20 3:16
Second Half 3:01 0:22
Total 3:21 3:38:1st_place_medal:

The Blue Team had the high ground the first half, and it was clearly an advantage, since the times flipped at half. Both scores seem lower than they should have been, given the actual play. I suspect there is something off with the tablet we used to run the KotH app.

Thanks to everyone who played!

The new software defaults to 100 health, so the bomb’s 10 damage was nowhere near enough!

If we are going to use the bomb in 100 health games, the damage needs to scale with proximity.

@AWK, this is an intriguing idea. We’ll need to take some more measurements, but I think if we use our 50’ RSSI value, and find another at, say, 10’, we can just scale between MAX_HEALTH at 10’ or less and 0 at 50’ or beyond.
